Restylane Family

One of the unfortunate side effects of aging is the loss of collagen, elastin, and volume in the face. Like Juvederm, Restylane is a gel made of non-animal derived, biodegradable, natural hyaluronic acid—which can hold almost 1,000 times its weight in water. This crystal-clear gel is injected beneath the skin to correct the appearance of lines, folds, and wrinkles. A quick 30-minute procedure is all it takes to have a fuller, more youthful appearance that lasts from six months to a year.

What is Restylane?

Restylane is one of the cosmetic injectables that has received FDA approval. The active ingredient in the Restylane family of products is hyaluronic acid. The flexibility, texture, and resilience of youthful skin exist because of the high amount of water it contains.

Also known as hyaluronan, hyaluronic acid is a sticky substance that our body naturally produces. The skin, eyes, and connective tissue are the sites where maximum amounts of hyaluronic acid are found. Its capacity to retain water up to almost a thousand times its weight is the key reason why it is used in cosmetic fillers such as Restylane. Apart from hydration, hyaluronic acid is also linked to tissue repair, rejuvenation, and has anti-inflammatory action. Hyaluronic acid also facilitates new cell growth and promotes tightness and volume of the skin.

Before & After

Restylane Family of Fillers

Restylane – Facial wrinkles and folds
Restylane Defyne – Deep smile and laugh lines
Restylane Refyne – Moderate smile and laugh lines
Restylane Lyft – For lifted cheeks and smoothed wrinkles
Restylane Kysse – Natural enhancement and a softer feel

How Does Restylane Work?

The normal aging process combined with daily external injury – such as exposure to excessive ultraviolet rays – can deplete the skin of its moisture. The skin also stops producing hyaluronic acid when there is damage to the skin or inflammation. Hyaluronic acid is the key molecule that helps the skin retain moisture.

Restylane is in the form of a clear liquid gel and contains hyaluronic acid that is derived from non-animal based sources. Restylane injections delivered by highly-trained practitioners at our boutique med spa in Napa replace the depleted hyaluronic acid and restore volume and firmness to the skin while minimizing wrinkles and fine lines.

Restylane Defyne

Restylane Defyne is one of the newest additions to the Restylane family of HA dermal fillers. In Europe, the product is known as Emervel. Having Restylane Defyne at LIFT Aesthetics is for the correction of moderate to severe deep facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds or smile lines. Defyne is meant to plump and fill deep-set lines. This injectable offers a solution for deep wrinkles or to replace lost volume under the skin.

Defyne is ideal for use on the deep nose to mouth lines (nasolabial folds) and sad mouth lines (marionette lines). This product contains the local anesthetic lidocaine for improved comfort during your treatment.

Restylane Refyne

Restylane Refyne is a dermal filler for mid-to-deep injection into the facial tissue to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds or the smile lines. Restylane Refyne also provides a medium lifting effect. This product contains the local anesthetic lidocaine for improved comfort during your treatment

Restylane Lyft

Restylane Lyft has larger hyaluronic acid gel particles that enable the product to hold its shape and actually lift the treatment area. This denser formulation makes Restylane Lyft ideal for midface volume restoration. The filler replenishes lost volume caused by collagen degradation and fat loss with fewer injections compared to other products as it is less inclined to yield to compression.

Lyft is designed to correct the appearance of hollow cheeks and severe nasolabial folds (laugh lines), delivering beautiful results that last for many months.

Restylane Procedure

When you visit our high-end boutique spa in Napa, our practitioner will thoroughly evaluate and review your medications as well as your medical and allergy history. A detailed examination of your skin is then performed to assess your candidacy for Restylane or other cosmetic fillers.

At LIFT Aesthetic, you can be assured of the most professional, unbiased guidance at all times. We are committed to our patients’ safety and comfort and are fully geared to help them look and feel their best.

Our highly-trained practitioners design a personalized treatment option based on your unique anti-aging goals. The number of Restylane injections and treatment sessions will be prescribed based on the provider’s evaluation as well as your expectations and requirements.

Restylane treatment procedure involves the following steps:

  • Step one: The practitioner selects the injection sites for each area of skin to be treated.
  • Step two: An antiseptic is then applied to the area.
  • Step three: The practitioner determines the precise amount of Restylane that will achieve the desired results.
  • Step four: The Restylane cosmetic filler is injected into the layers beneath the skin. The hyaluronic acid present in Restylane adheres to the deeper layer of the skin. The water that the acid holds helps hydrate the skin’s surface and restores volume.

The entire Restylane procedure can be done in our Napa office and takes 45 minutes or less. You’ll notice an immediate difference, but the full results are evident one week later.

Post Treatment

Swelling, redness, and tenderness are the most commonly reported side effects of Restylane injections (reported by about 97% of patients), but this should only last for two or three days. Most people will return right away to work after their procedure, as the swelling is not terribly noticeable in most cases.
