Microneedling

Microneedling in Napa, CA

The SkinPen™ is the only microneedling device that has been FDA approved for use in the United States. At Lift, we are proud to be the only practice offering this superior device and service for microneedling in Napa. Automated Microneedling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT) is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of fine lines, acne scars, and improvement of the skin’s overall appearance.

What Are the Benefits?

During this procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin, the cornerstones of healthy, firm, smooth skin. SkinPen™ also creates superficial micro-channels which allow topical serums to be absorbed more effectively into the skin.

The benefits of microneedling are a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging. SkinPen™ also has a positive effect on hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, acne scars, traumatic scars, and stretch marks and generally creates a fresher appearance or glow to the skin.

Before & After

How Does Microneedling Help Restore Skin Texture?

The skin is a unique organ in the human body. While it is the largest organ, it also provides an effective barrier against disease-causing germs and foreign invaders. The structure, firmness, and elasticity of the skin is maintained by two proteins called collagen and elastin. Collagen not only provides structural support to the skin but helps in tissue repair and new cell generation. It is released in the body whenever there is an injury to help with healing and regeneration of skin cells.

The process of aging, excess exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays, certain medications, smoking, or pollutants lead to loss of collagen. Low levels of collagen leads to formation of wrinkles, fine lines, folds, creases, and under eye bags that are not welcome.

We have just the solution for you at Lift Aesthetics with microneedling in Napa. See what Napa and surrounding area clients are taking advantage of.

Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy and involves the use of a handheld device to produce micro-injuries on the skin. At Lift, we use cutting-edge techniques performed by highly skilled practitioners in a relaxed, boutique atmosphere. We use SkinPen™ which is the microneedling device that has received FDA approval to create micro-injuries in a controlled, precise manner.

Although superficial, the micro-wounds initiate a wound healing cascade causing the body to step up collagen production in a natural way. This helps restore the skin’s original firmness and vitality.

Microneedling has been shown in multiple studies to transform the appearance of the skin by improving its tone, radiance, and texture. While it is a safe, non-invasive way to address fine lines, wrinkles, scars, sun damage, stretch marks, skin laxity, and enlarged pores, it is also the preferred delivery system for concentrated blood therapy or other biological components and topical serums.

What Areas of the Body Can Be Treated?

The SkinPen™ can be used on all parts of the body: face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen, and back.

The SkinPen’s adjustable depth settings make it possible to treat signs of aging and skin damage on different parts of the body. It produces firmer, tighter, and plumper skin with improved elasticity while also treating scarring as a result of acne, skin allergies, or other illnesses.

The SkinPen Can Be Used to Safely Treat:

Extensive training and practice have helped us achieve precise results when it comes to our microneedling in Napa, while the detailed pre-treatment assessment we perform ensures there are no harsh side effects.

First we apply topical numbing cream for comfort. Then, a sterile needle-tip containing 12 tiny microneedles is attached to the SkinPen™. Your skincare professional will apply a thin layer of topical gel to your skin and select the appropriate treatment depth based on your unique needs. Next, the pen will gently glide over your skin while the SkinPen™ does the work causing tiny, controlled micro-injuries to your skin in order to stimulate collagen and elastin which are the keystones to youthful, healthy looking skin.

Most patients feel nothing except for a small amount of pressure, due to the numbing cream. Patients with a stronger resistance to numbing compounds, such as lidocaine and tetracaine, report a feeling similar to light sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating microneedle tip reduces discomfort.

Some patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours. Patients heal faster when they combine the microneedling treatment with PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma), PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin), or BioPelle Stem Cell/Growth Factor serums. The speed of the reciprocating microneedling tip reduces discomfort while the applied hydrating gel also makes the treatment more tolerable

The procedure takes 30 to 45 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.

Immediately after the treatment you will notice a bright redness to the skin. The total healing time depends on the depth of the needles used and the number of overlapping passes your skincare professional performs.

Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days and weeks. Results continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment as collagen production continues.

Some patients only require a single treatment to see an improvement. However, for corrective results, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 3 to 6 treatments spaced about 6 to 8 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photoaging, stretch marks, or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6 to 8 sessions at 6-week intervals. Microneedling can also be performed with the addition of PRP or PRF, boosting results and healing time.
